Job Description

As an Underwriter at our Durban office, you'll focus on evaluating insurance risks and ensuring appropriate coverage levels. Your expertise will help us maintain our strong customer service reputation while ensuring our underwriting practices are adhered to and meet industry regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assess risk and determine policy terms for individual insurance applications.
• Collaborate with underwriters and sales staff to provide comprehensive insurance solutions.
• Analyze financial statements and other information to evaluate risks.
• Review and process insurance applications in accordance with company policies.
• Maintain thorough documentation of underwriting decisions and policy issuance.
• Communicate with clients and agents to clarify underwriting requirements.
• Stay updated on industry trends and legislative changes impacting underwriting.
• Participate in training and development opportunities related to underwriting practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
• Insurance certifications are a plus

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience in underwriting or related field

Certifications

• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
