We are seeking an adept Insurance Underwriter to join our fast-paced Durban office. The successful candidate will analyse insurance applications, assess risk, and determine appropriate coverage and pricing while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough investigations of claims to assess the validity and determine the appropriate response.
• Utilize underwriting software and tools to enhance analysis and decision-making.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging risks that may impact underwriting.
• Present underwriting results and strategies to management as required.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or Insurance
• Masters in Business Administration is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

Technical Skills

• Data Analysis
• Underwriting Software Proficiency

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving
• Customer Service Orientation

Certifications

• CIMA qualification
• Certified Insurance Underwriter (CIU)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Advanced Excel skills: Proficient in using Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with insurance underwriting software: Hands-on experience with underwriting tools will be a plus.
