Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will assess risks and determine appropriate insurance coverage for clients. This role involves reviewing applications, analyzing information, and making effective decisions to mitigate risks while ensuring client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess applications for life, health, and property insurance.
• Analyze financial statements and credit histories to determine risk levels.
• Negotiate terms and conditions of policies with clients.
• Prepare reports and documentation for internal reviews.
• Evaluate the adequacy of existing insurance cover for clients.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct training presentations for other staff members.
• Support the development of marketing strategies for new products.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance or a related field
• Relevant certifications or designations preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in insurance underwriting
