Structural Engineer

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to contribute to impactful projects. You will be involved from conception through to completion, applying your expertise in structural design and construction engineering while ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Create and test prototypes and mock-ups of structural components.
• Lead the development and implementation of new design methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns in best practices for structural engineering.
• Assess the environmental impact of proposed designs.
• Ensure that the project stays within budget and follows scheduled timelines.
• Adapt to new technologies and techniques within the engineering field.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master's degree is a plus

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in structural engineering

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD
• SAP2000

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Project management

Certifications

• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.)
• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

Advantageous

• Familiarity with green building standards: Knowledge of sustainable design practices including LEED certification.
• Experience in seismic design: Experience with earthquake-resistant design practices and methods.
