Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Learning Disabilities Teacher to join our dedicated team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique learning needs of each student.

Responsibilities

  • Create tailored IEPs that address the specific learning needs of each student.
  • Implement teaching strategies that accommodate different learning styles and disabilities.
  • Utilize assessments and feedback to continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Maintain communication with parents and guardians to update them on their child's progress.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in special education.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams focused on student success.
  • Advocate for resources and services that support students' learning needs.
  • Facilitate training sessions for staff on best practices for inclusive education.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional techniques based on student needs.
  • Keep abreast of legislation affecting special education practices and policies.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Teaching certification in South Africa
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with students with learning disabilities
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of IEP development
