Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Special Education Teacher who will provide exceptional educational support to students with various learning challenges. Your role will include collaborating with parents, educators, and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for each student.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to incorporate special educational needs into lesson plans.
• Organize activities that promote positive behaviours and social skills.
• Create a positive, structured environment that allows for behavioural growth.
• Document and report on student progress for IEP reviews.
• Support training sessions for staff on special education strategies.
• Coordinate transition planning for students moving to the next educational level.
• Lead workshops for parents to assist them in supporting their child's learning.
• Engage in community outreach to promote awareness of special educational needs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Education with a focus on Special Education
• Master's degree is a plus

Experience

• 3-5 years of special education experience

• IEP Development
• Adapted Curriculum

Certifications

• Advanced Child Psychology Certification
• Special Education Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Leadership experience: Previous roles in leading special education initiatives or teams.
