Psychiatrist

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatrist to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage a diverse caseload of patients.
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization.
• Coordinate care with social services and community resources.
• Facilitate workshops and educational sessions on mental health.
• Develop community-based resources to support mental health initiatives.

Requirements

Education

• MBChB or equivalent medical degree
• Fellowship in Psychiatry is an advantage

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical setting

Technical Skills

• Crisis Management
• Medication Management

Soft Skills

• Analytical Thinking
• Team Collaboration

Certifications

• CPD training in mental health
• Additional certifications in psychotherapy is a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Research experience in psychiatry: Experience in conducting psychiatric research is a strong advantage.
• Bilingual capabilities: Ability to speak additional South African languages is preferred.
