Job Description

The Hospital Unit Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of a hospital unit, ensuring efficient patient care and effective coordination among medical staff. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hospital unit, ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Coordinate patient care plans with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Assist in the implementation of new healthcare policies.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide training for staff.
  • Manage unit inventory and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to address concerns.
  • Ensure that all activities comply with hospital guidelines and regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and medical professionals.
  • Monitor the quality of patient care and implement improvements.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare management or related field
  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare management, preferably in a hospital setting
Technical Skills
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Project Management software

Certifications
  • Valid License to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Africa
