Job Description

We are seeking a driven Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have expertise in evaluating insurance applications, conducting risk assessments, and determining appropriate coverage options. This role requires a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills to ensure sound decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Assess insurance applications and evaluate risks involved.
• Determine appropriate coverage based on risk assessment criteria.
• Engage with clients to understand their insurance needs and objectives.
• Analyze financial documents to establish the risk profile of applicants.
• Coordinate with the underwriting manager to establish policy guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of assessments and decisions made.
• Work closely with sales teams to assist with client inquiries.
• Review and renew existing policies based on market conditions.
• Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Communicate underwriting decisions and resolutions clearly to clients.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field
• Various insurance designations (e.g., CII, AIC) are a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of underwriting experience preferred
