Freight Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Freight Coordinator to join our Durban team. In this role, you'll manage and coordinate all freight activities, ensuring timely and accurate shipments. You'll liaise with suppliers, customers, and transporters to guarantee the smooth delivery of goods.

Responsibilities

• Manage transportation logistics and freight forwarders.
• Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong relationships.
• Implement process improvements to streamline freight operations.
• Act as the point of contact for all shipping inquiries.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
• Train junior staff in freight coordination and logistics management.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
• Additional qualifications in logistics are preferable

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant experience in logistics or freight management

Technical Skills

• Logistics Planning Software
• Supply Chain Analysis

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Problem-Solving

Certifications

• Logistics Management Certification
• Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in a Second Language: Ability to communicate in Afrikaans or Zulu is advantageous.
• Experience with Hazardous Materials Shipping: Understanding of regulations regarding the transport of hazardous materials.
