Paper Machine Backtender

Job Description

The Paper Machine Backtender will be responsible for supporting paper machine operations by ensuring efficient production and quality output. As a crucial member of our team, your role will include monitoring the machine, performing maintenance, and ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload paper reels efficiently and safely.
• Adjust machine settings to optimize production output.
• Comply with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
• Assist in training new team members on equipment operation.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Document daily production metrics and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss performance and safety.
• Support quality control processes to maintain product standards.

Requirements

Education

• Matric / Grade 12 certificate
• Technical diploma or certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience operating and maintaining paper machines or similar equipment

Technical Skills

• SCADA systems
• PLC programming

Languages

• English: Fluent
