Job Description

The Conservation Scientist will develop and implement conservation strategies for various plant and animal species in South Africa. This role involves collaborating with government bodies, NGOs, and local communities to promote sustainable practices and awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute conservation strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead research efforts on species and habitat assessments.
  • Liaise with local communities to integrate conservation practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing projects.
  • Coordinate with universities and research institutions for data sharing.
  • Drive fundraising initiatives to support conservation activities.
  • Prepare publications and presentations on research findings.
  • Engage in policy advocacy to protect local ecosystems.
  • Mentor interns and volunteers in conservation practices.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Conservation Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in developing and implementing conservation initiatives
