Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting insurance applications to ensure risk assessment and coverage decisions are accurate. This role involves collaboration with agents and clients to deliver tailored insurance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite insurance risks for diverse clients.
• Collaborate with sales teams to align underwriting practices with client needs.
• Educate clients on policy options and underwriting processes.
• Conduct regular reviews of existing policies and ensure they are up to date.
• Provide insights into market trends affecting pricing and risk analysis.
• Liaise with claims departments to ensure seamless integration of underwriting and claims handling.
• Participate in training and mentorship of new underwriting staff.
• Prepare documentation and reports for senior management on underwriting performance.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or related field
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting and risk management

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
