Job Description

We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of structural design principles and be proficient in software like CAD and Revit. You will work on various construction projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards while coalescing creativity with safety.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems using CAD and other design tools.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations for structural components.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors to refine project designs.
  • Conduct site visits to inspect construction progress and ensure quality standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation of structural design work.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss construction issues and strategies.
  • Provide support during the construction phase to resolve any unforeseen issues.
  • Evaluate existing structures and recommend modifications as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers and assist with their professional development.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration preferred
Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in structural engineering
