Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of structural design principles and be proficient in software like CAD and Revit. You will work on various construction projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards while coalescing creativity with safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis and modelling of various construction projects.
• Design structures that are resilient and economically viable.
• Maintain best practices in safety and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects to integrate various engineering aspects.
• Plan and supervise fieldwork and structural assessments of existing buildings.
• Enhance existing designs with new data and trends in construction.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage

Experience

• More than 5 years of relevant experience

Technical Skills

• Structural Design Software
• Project Planning Tools

Soft Skills

• Attention to Detail
• Time Management

Certifications

• Building Construction License
• Civil Engineering Technician (CET) certification is beneficial

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Familiarity with building codes and regulations: Understanding of South African building codes and housing regulations.
• Experience leading engineering teams: Past experience managing or mentoring engineering teams is a plus.
