Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to enhance our engineering team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will design and develop innovative mechanical solutions, ensuring that projects meet specifications and standards while optimizing functionality and cost.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Analyze technical data and provide insightful recommendations.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance practices.
• Review engineering processes and suggest improvements.
• Assist in training and onboarding of new engineers.
• Develop maintenance procedures for mechanical systems.
• Ensure proper documentation and archiving of engineering designs.
• Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers.
• Prepare cost estimates and budget proposals for engineering projects.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Master's degree is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Thermal analysis software

Soft Skills

• Creative problem solving
• Leadership

Certifications

• Certified Mechanical Engineer (CME)
• Lean Manufacturing certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of HVAC systems: Understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
