Veterinarian

Job Description

Join our Cape Town veterinary clinic as a Veterinarian, where you'll be responsible for diagnosing illnesses, treating conditions, and performing surgeries on various animals. We're looking for someone who demonstrates kindness, skill, and a commitment to client education surrounding pet care.

Responsibilities

• Perform health examinations on animals and diagnose veterinary conditions.
• Administer vaccinations and medications as needed.
• Educate pet owners on animal care, nutrition, and health issues.
• Perform surgical procedures when necessary.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with animal welfare standards.
• Develop treatment plans for sick animals and coordinate follow-up care.
• Keep accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
• Collaborate with veterinary technicians and reception staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote responsible pet ownership.
• Continuously update knowledge of veterinary medicine through ongoing education.

Requirements

Education

• DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or equivalent degree

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in veterinary practice

Technical Skills

• Animal surgery
• Animal diagnostics

Soft Skills

• Interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail

Certifications

• Registered Veterinarian in South Africa
• Certification in Animal Surgery is a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with exotic animals: Experience in treating and caring for exotic pets is highly desirable.
• Willingness to participate in community education programs: Passion for animal welfare and educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
