Job Description

The Power Plant Control Room Operator is tasked with monitoring and controlling power generation systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and be able to respond swiftly to any operational challenges.

Responsibilities

• Control plant operations by monitoring equipment performance via SCADA systems.
• Initiate troubleshooting procedures when abnormalities are detected.
• Ensure that all safety checks and regulations are adhered to meticulously.
• Work with the operations and maintenance teams to ensure seamless workflows.
• Conduct performance assessments and participate in root cause analysis of issues.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior operators.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives targeting efficiency.
• Stay current with technologies impacting power generation and operations.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in power plant operations with knowledge of SCADA and PLC systems

Technical Skills

• Energy management software

• Gas Turbine Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
