Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in structural design and analysis, with the ability to work on a variety of projects from concept through to completion. You will collaborate closely with architects and contractors to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Utilise engineering principles to create and refine structure designs.
• Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams on diverse projects.
• Communicate with various stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
• Conduct structural analysis and simulation to validate designs.
• Prepare proposals and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
• Assist in the development of project plans and work schedules.
• Advise on environmental and sustainability issues in design.
• Communicate effectively with all team members, addressing concerns promptly.
• Document project progress and update relevant records continuously.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field
• Master's degree in relevant field is a significant advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of working experience in structural engineering projects

Technical Skills

• ETABS
• Civil 3D

Soft Skills

• Critical Thinking
• Project Coordination

Certifications

• Certified Structural Engineer
• Certificate in Project Management (preferred)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in forensic engineering: Specialised knowledge in analyzing structural failures and providing insights.
• Familiarity with soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering: An appreciation of the subsurface conditions enhances project feasibility studies.
