Job Description

As a Menagerie Superintendent, you'll be at the forefront of wildlife sanctuary management, ensuring the health and safety of animals while overseeing a dedicated team. Your responsibilities will include developing animal welfare protocols, managing daily operations, and creating educational programs to raise awareness about wildlife conservation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall maintenance of animal enclosures and facilities.
  • Manage a budget for animal care and habitat improvements.
  • Develop enrichment programs to improve animal welfare.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health and behaviors.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians for medical care and treatment plans.
  • Engage with local communities to promote wildlife welfare.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and with the public.
  • Manage emergency situations calmly and effectively if they arise.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Implement safety protocols to protect staff and visitors.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of direct management experience in a wildlife or animal care environment.
