Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our healthcare team in Johannesburg. The OR RN will be responsible for assisting surgeons during operations and ensuring patient care is prioritized throughout all stages of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the operating room is ready and sterile prior to each surgery.
• Assist the surgical team by providing timely support during procedures.
• Record and maintain detailed patient records and surgical logs.
• Keep the operating room stocked with necessary supplies.
• Communicate effectively with team members and patients.
• Handle surgical instruments and maintain equipment cleanliness.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to improve nursing skills.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families before and after surgery.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and surgical policies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the operating room.

Requirements

Education

• Postgraduate qualification in perioperative nursing is advantageous
• Knowledge of advanced surgical procedures and techniques

Experience

• Prior experience in specific surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, cardiovascular, or neurosurgery) is preferred.
