Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our passionate team in Pietermaritzburg. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating veterinary cases and performing surgeries. You will be responsible for providing compassionate care and building strong relationships with pet owners.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical procedures for animals including spays, neuters, and soft tissue surgeries.
• Conduct examinations, assess, and diagnose various health conditions.
• Administer vaccines and medications as needed.
• Develop treatment plans based on thorough clinical assessments.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animal's health and necessary treatments.
• Participate in veterinary outreach and community education programs.

Requirements

Education

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

Experience

• 4+ years in small animal practice preferred

Technical Skills

• Animal Rehabilitation
• Client Counseling

Certifications

• Veterinary Pain Management

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with exotic animals: Ability to handle and treat birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
• Proficient in veterinary software systems: Familiarity with practice management software and electronic health records.
