Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Epidemiology Specialist to join our team in Pretoria. This role involves conducting research and analysing data to identify public health challenges and develop effective intervention strategies. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving community health and possess strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analyses to identify associations between health risks and diseases.
  • Work closely with local health authorities to address public health crises.
  • Design and administer surveys and health assessments.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for healthcare staff on epidemiological practices.
  • Engage with community groups to promote health education and awareness.
  • Utilize geographic information systems (GIS) for health data mapping.
  • Collaborate with researchers on studies and projects relevant to public health.
  • Evaluate and improve existing health programs based on epidemiological data.
  • Report findings to governmental health departments and funding agencies.
  • Conduct field visits to assess the implementation of health programs.

Requirements

Education
  • PhD in Epidemiology or relevant field preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in epidemiologic studies and public health programming
