An orthopedic brace maker is responsible for designing, fabricating, and fitting orthopedic braces for patients. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of orthopedic principles, and excellent craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with orthopedists to determine appropriate appliance needs.
Perform fittings and adjustments to ensure comfort and effectiveness.
Use technical tools and machinery for brace fabrication.
Assess and troubleshoot issues with existing appliances.
Contribute to research and development efforts for new products.
Foster positive relationships with patients and caregivers.
Ensure all equipment is maintained in proper working order.
Train junior staff on best practices in appliance making.
Implement feedback from patients to enhance service quality.
Requirements
Education
Qualified technician qualification in orthotics and prosthetics.
Previous training or relevant course certifications are beneficial.
Experience
3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting (medical devices preferred).
