Legal Counsel

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a Legal Counsel who will oversee our legal operations, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and mitigate legal risks. The candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding our firm's values.

Responsibilities

• Represent the company in legal proceedings and manage any litigation effectively.
• Review transactional documents to mitigate legal exposure.
• Educate and advise clients and employees in the organization on legal matters.
• Create and monitor processes for legal compliance across all practices.
• Lead initiatives to improve legal practices and policies within the organization.
• Support the advocacy of the firm's legal interests to various stakeholders.
• Provide risk analysis and legal counsel to the senior management team.
• Facilitate training on regulatory compliance programs to all employees.

Requirements

Education

• LLB degree, with a specialization in corporate law is advantageous
• Postgraduate qualification in law is beneficial

Experience

• 5+ years of progressive legal experience in a similar role or environment

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Intermediate
