Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a talented Structural Engineer to join our Durban office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of various structures. You will collaborate with architects and other engineers to ensure the structural integrity and safety of our projects.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative structural solutions for diverse projects.
• Conduct site investigations and analysis to inform design decisions.
• Work with contractors during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Provide technical support and expertise to the project team throughout the design and construction process.
• Draft and review project documentation, including reports, specifications, and correspondence.
• Engage in continuous professional development to enhance engineering skills.
• Actively participate in safety and compliance meetings.
• Enhance project efficiency through innovative engineering practices.
• Collaborate with external consultants and suppliers as necessary.
• Document and track project changes and variations effectively.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Additional certifications in Project Management or similar are advantageous.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering projects

Technical Skills

• Advanced Structural Software Tools
• BIM Technologies (e.g., Revit)

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Critical thinking

Certifications

• Certified Project Manager (CPM)
• Lean Six Sigma Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with steel and concrete design: Hands-on experience in creating designs for both steel and concrete structures.
• Knowledge of construction materials and methods: Familiarity with contemporary construction practices and materials.
