Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of all individuals within the facility.
• Conduct regular inspections and supervise inmate movements.
• Document incidents and prepare necessary reports for management.
• Collaborate with medical and psychological staff for inmate care.
• Participate in training for safety and emergency procedures.
• Support rehabilitation efforts and assist in educational programs.
• Train new staff on procedures and policies.
• Actively engage in conflict resolution among inmates.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a correctional officer

Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in corrections or law enforcement.

Technical Skills

• First Aid and CPR
• Radio communication systems

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Adaptability

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Advanced training or certification in law enforcement: Any additional qualifications in law enforcement will be beneficial.
• Experience in managing and supervising staff: Experience with staff training and oversight is a plus.
