Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. You will be responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care, diagnosing and treating a variety of animal health issues, and performing surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a commitment to delivering the best care possible.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical examinations and diagnostic tests on animals.
• Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments.
• Perform surgical procedures, both routine and emergency.
• Educate pet owners on health care and preventive measures.
• Create and maintain accurate patient records.
• Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff for optimal care.
• Stay updated with the latest veterinary medicine advancements.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine

Experience

• Minimum 2 years in clinic setting

Technical Skills

• Anesthetic administration
• Patient care

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Critical thinking

Certifications

• National Veterinary Association membership
• CPR for Pets certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with exotic animals: Experience treating and caring for various exotic species.
• VetTech certification: Certification as a Veterinary Technician is a plus.
