Mental Health Counsellor

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Counsellor to provide compassionate counselling services in Port Elizabeth. In this role, you will engage with clients to help them improve their mental well-being through various therapeutic techniques. Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one and group counselling sessions.
• Perform client evaluations and create personalized treatment strategies.
• Lead community outreach programs focused on mental health.
• Ensure detailed documentation of sessions and client progress.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to improve quality of life.
• Employ a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet client needs.
• Monitor and report on client advancements.
• Provide immediate assistance in crisis situations.
• Engage in regular professional development activities.
• Promote mental health resources within the community.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's in Psychology or Social Work
• Master's degree in Counselling Psychology is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant counselling experience

Technical Skills

• Behavioural Therapy
• Group Therapy Facilitation

• Problem-solving
• Interpersonal Skills

Certifications

• Certified Trauma Therapist
• Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with telehealth platforms: Comfortable providing remote counselling services.
