Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent medical care to pediatric patients in our fast-paced emergency department, ensuring timely diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Triage pediatric patients and manage a variety of acute medical conditions.
• Provide leadership in emergency situations, ensuring the safety of all patients.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in pediatric emergency medicine.
• Develop educational materials for patients and families.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to optimize patient care procedures.
• Engage in community outreach and health education programs.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance pediatric patient care.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and students.
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and outcomes.
• Utilize electronic medical records efficiently for documentation.

Requirements

Education

• Qualified Medical Doctor (MBChB or equivalent)
• Specialist qualification in Pediatric Medicine

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Technical Skills

• Exceptional diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
• Proficient in using electronic medical records and relevant software

Soft Skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment

Certifications

• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Intermediate
