Cybersecurity Lawyer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Lawyer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel on a range of cybersecurity issues, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and assisting clients in navigating complex IT governance.

Responsibilities

• Advise on legal aspects related to cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy laws.
• Create and implement cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
• Conduct internal investigations related to compliance issues and breaches.
• Manage the response to cybersecurity incidents from a legal perspective.
• Review and ensure compliance with international cybersecurity standards.
• Develop training programs on cybersecurity best practices for staff.
• Support the business in navigating legal challenges associated with digital operations.
• Provide expert opinions on emerging threats and changes in legislation.
• Assist clients in understanding their obligations under local and international laws.
• Keep abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies impacting cybersecurity law.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or JD degree from an accredited institution
• Bar admission in South Africa
• Further qualification in Cybersecurity or IT Law is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years in legal roles with a focus on cybersecurity.

• Expertise in Cybersecurity Regulations
• Litigation Experience

Certifications

• Cybersecurity Risk Management Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
