Locomotive Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Locomotive Engineer to oversee the operation of our trains. The ideal candidate will ensure that trains are operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the train crew to ensure proper workflow.
• Implement emergency protocols and procedures when needed.
• Collaborate with management to enhance operational efficiency.
• Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on industry standards.
• Engage with customers to provide excellent service and resolve complaints.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Relevant qualifications in transportation or logistics are advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in railway operations or locomotive management

Technical Skills

• Excellent mechanical skills

• Leadership
• Customer service orientation

Certifications

• Locomotive Engineer Certification
• Safety and Emergency Procedures Training

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience in the use of GPS tracking systems: Familiarity with technologies that assist in train operations.
• Prior experience in freight operations: Knowledge of freight train operations is a plus.
