Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Durban office. In this role, you will analyze insurance applications, assess risks, and formulate policy recommendations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong judgment and a commitment to outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments for new insurance applications.
  • Draft policy documents and amendments.
  • Support agents in closing deals by providing underwriting insights.
  • Update underwriting guidelines according to changing regulations.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to improve workflows.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry practices.
  • Provide feedback to improve underwriting processes and efficiency.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Economics, or related field
  • Professional insurance qualifications are highly regarded
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, particularly underwriting
