Job Description

We are in search of a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Cape Town office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing applicants' insurance risks to determine coverage and premiums. This role involves considerable analytical skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders throughout the underwriting process.

Responsibilities

• Review detailed financial information and historical data of applications.
• Negotiate terms of policies with external stakeholders.
• Perform trend analysis to improve underwriting accuracy.
• Educate clients about coverage options and services offered.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about competitive products.
• Oversee the training of junior underwriters in best practices.
• Contribute to the enhancement of underwriting guidelines and policies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or related field
• Postgraduate qualification is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in underwriting or risk management roles

• Qualified Fire & Security Technician (QFS)
