Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic Durban office. In this role, you'll conduct thorough risk assessments, maintain detailed records, and provide support to agents and clients throughout the underwriting process, ensuring a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk assessments for various types of insurance policies including property, liability, and casualty.
• Analyze claim history and risk factors to set premium rates.
• Maintain communication with clients to address questions and concerns about coverage and policies.
• Compile and present underwriting reports to management.
• Review and update underwriting guidelines to align with the company's objectives.
• Collaborate with the claims department to evaluate and manage claims effectively.
• Train junior underwriters on best practices and company policies.
• Engage in continual education to stay informed about changes in the insurance market.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
• Professional certification as an underwriter is a plus

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in insurance underwriting or a related field
