Job Description

As an Offender Workforce Development Specialist (OWDS), you will play a crucial role in helping offenders transition from incarceration to the workforce. This involves providing vocational training, job placement assistance, and ongoing support tailored to individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized plans for offenders that align with their skills and career goals.
  • Organize job fairs and networking events to connect offenders with potential employers.
  • Utilize feedback from offenders and employers to improve training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices in workforce development.
  • Facilitate the creation of resumes and cover letters for job applications.
  • Conduct workshops on interview techniques and workplace etiquette.
  • Create partnerships with training providers to enhance skills development opportunities.
  • Evaluate the long-term success of program participants in securing and retaining employment.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Certificate in Vocational Training or Career Counseling is advantageous
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in offender rehabilitation or related field

  • Microsoft Office Suite

Advantageous

  • Experience working within a correctional facility: Hands-on experience in a correctional environment supporting rehabilitation.
