Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our dedicated team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will evaluate insurance applications and determine coverage options while mitigating risk and providing exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance applications to determine risk and coverage.
• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and standards.
• Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to clients and agents.
• Monitor changes in regulations and market conditions affecting underwriting.
• Collaborate with actuaries and risk management teams for policy development.
• Review claims and provide recommendations on policy renewals.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the market.
• Conduct risk assessments for complex and unique insurance applications.
• Provide feedback to improve processes and enhance customer service.
• Support marketing initiatives by providing underwriting expertise.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Professional certifications in underwriting or insurance preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 2 years in underwriting
