SOC Analyst

Job Description

Join our Durban-based team as a SOC Analyst where your primary responsibility will be to act as the first line of defence against cyber threats. You'll collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to ensure continuous security monitoring and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor network traffic for suspicious activity.
• Conduct post-incident reviews and recommend actions to mitigate risks.
• Support compliance initiatives related to data protection regulations.
• Communicate incident statuses and risks to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on research and development projects.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology
• Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GSEC are highly regarded

Experience

• 3+ years of SOC Analyst experience

Technical Skills

• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools
• Incident Response Planning

Soft Skills

• Critical Thinking
• Collaboration

Certifications

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with threat-hunting techniques: Hands-on experience in identifying threats within the network.
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as GDPR or HIPAA: Understanding of regulations and compliance requirements influencing cybersecurity.
