Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to develop and implement safety protocols within our laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly in relation to chemical safety.

Responsibilities

• Create and enforce health and safety regulations for lab and workplace operations.
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide emergency response training and guidance for lab personnel.
• Monitor compliance with safety standards and recommend improvements.
• Organize safety workshops and informative sessions for staff.
• Establish and maintain safety data sheets for hazardous materials.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
• Collaborate with external regulatory agencies during inspections.
• Prepare detailed accident reports and recommendations for improvements.
• Review and refine safety protocols as needed.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in health and safety management.
