Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be involved in designing and overseeing a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and safety standards. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to deliver high-quality structural solutions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise construction activities, ensuring adherence to designs and specifications.
• Collaborate with contractors to resolve technical issues on-site.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.
• Mentor and develop less experienced staff within the engineering team.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Master's degree is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Building Codes and Regulations

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Leadership

Certifications

• PrEng registration
• Construction Management Certification is a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Expertise in seismic design: Strong understanding of seismic forces and their impact on structures.
• Experience with infrastructure projects: Hands-on experience in designing infrastructure-related structures.
