Job Description

We are looking for a dependable Furnace, Kiln, Oven, Drier, and Kettle Operator to join our team. This role entails firing ceramic products in tunnel kilns while ensuring quality control and equipment maintenance. Ideal candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and have experience in ceramics production.

Responsibilities

• Monitor firing cycles and kiln atmosphere for effective operation.
• Collaborate with quality control to ensure product specifications are met.
• Continuously check kiln temperatures and adjust as necessary.
• Document maintenance and adjustments made to the equipment.
• Train junior operators on best practices for kiln operation.
• Implement improvements to enhance efficiency in production.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Work effectively in a team environment to meet production deadlines.

Requirements

Education

• Matric certificate
• Relevant certificate or diploma in ceramics or pottery production

Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Technical Skills

• Attention to detail
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of kiln control systems

Soft Skills

• Good communication skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience using gas or electric kilns: Hands-on experience with both gas and electric firing systems.
• Ability to speak multiple languages: Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are beneficial.
• Experience in a production-based environment: Background in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Basic understanding of pottery or ceramic manufacturing processes: Familiarity with production cycles and material handling.
