Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide vital support to individuals struggling with addiction, facilitating their recovery journey through education, counseling, and collaborative treatment planning.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor prescribed medications for patients.
• Conduct initial assessments and drug screenings.
• Educate clients on the principles of recovery and relapse prevention.
• Maintain and update treatment documentation diligently.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance client outcomes.
• Lead group therapy sessions to foster a community approach to recovery.
• Engage with clients’ families for comprehensive support.
• Actively participate in training and development opportunities.

Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Drug Abuse Technician Certification is required

Experience

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in substance abuse treatment settings.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills
• Empathy and compassion

Certifications

• Drug Abuse Technician Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems: Experience in managing patient records using EMR software.
• Previous work in residential treatment settings: Experience in a rehabilitation facility is a plus.
