Relief Mate

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Relief Mate to assist in navigating our vessels and ensuring the safety of crew and cargo. The ideal candidate will have experience in maritime operations and a strong understanding of navigational safety.

Responsibilities

• Support the captain in navigation via GPS and ECDIS.
• Conduct safety drills and ensure crew compliance with safety measures.
• Assist in loading and unloading cargo while ensuring secure stowage.
• Act as a point of contact for crew regarding onboard operations.
• Engage with port authorities during docking and undocking procedures.
• Help maintain a positive working environment onboard.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science
• Certificate in Marine Environment Protection preferred

Experience

• Experience in cargo vessel operations is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• ECDIS and radar systems
• First Aid Certification

Soft Skills

• Team player
• Leadership skills

Certifications

• Maritime Digital Communication Systems course completion

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with international regulations and standards: Knowledge of maritime laws and best practices.
• Additional courses in safety management: Training in managing safety protocols on vessels.
