Lab Assistant - Durban - Research and Development

Job Description

We are seeking a Lab Assistant to join our research and development team in Durban. In this role, you will assist in laboratory experiments, maintain lab equipment, and support our scientists in various research projects. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and passionate about contributing to innovative scientific advancements.

Responsibilities

• Help manage day-to-day operations in the lab.
• Conduct preliminary analyses on experimental results.
• Support the management of laboratory safety protocols.
• Assist with grants and proposals for research funding.
• Coordinate with other departments for interdisciplinary projects.
• Play a role in the continual improvement of lab procedures.
• Facilitate the collection of samples and data during experiments.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab instruments.
• Prepare reagents and solutions for experiments.
• Engage with external partners and support field research.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Laboratory Technology or relevant field
• Bachelor's degree preferred, however, not essential

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory environment
