Job Description

As a Public Safety Telecommunicator, you will play a crucial role in managing emergency calls and coordinating the dispatch of emergency services. Your ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively communicate with various stakeholders will be essential in ensuring public safety.

Responsibilities

• Utilize GIS (Geographic Information System) for emergency call routing.
• Train new telecommunicators on operational procedures.
• Engage in disaster response drills and training.
• Manage high-stress situations tactfully and effectively.
• Advise emergency responders of critical information regarding incidents.

Requirements

Education

• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification

Experience

• Experience in emergency call handling is advantageous

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with dispatch software

Certifications

• First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
