Job Description

The Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselor plays a pivotal role in providing therapeutic support to individuals battling substance abuse and addiction. This position entails developing personalized treatment plans, facilitating individual and group counseling sessions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient needs through assessments and interviews.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote peer support.
• Liaise with external support services and community resources.
• Help develop and facilitate educational workshops for patients and their families.
• Document treatment interventions and outcomes effectively.
• Participate in clinical meetings and case reviews.
• Engage in continuous education to stay current with treatment practices.
• Promote recovery-oriented practices within the treatment program.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures to enhance patient care.
• Provide feedback to the clinical team on patient progress.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience working with diverse patient populations

Technical Skills

• Crisis intervention skills
• Knowledge of addiction treatment methods

Soft Skills

• Strong organizational skills
• Team collaboration

Certifications

• Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC)

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Previous experience in a rehabilitation setting: Experience working within drug and alcohol treatment facilities.
