Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter in Durban who will be responsible for evaluating and assessing risks, determining policy terms and pricing, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess risk factors to determine policy eligibility.
• Create detailed reports on underwriting decisions and recommendations.
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address underwriting challenges.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance underwriting knowledge.
• Identify potential risks and recommend preventative measures.
• Implement technological tools for improved efficiency in underwriting tasks.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Financial Services, or related field
• Advanced Insurance qualifications are preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of underwriting experience, particularly in professional lines

• Statistical Analysis

Certifications

• Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)

Languages

• English: Fluent
