Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Pretoria. The successful candidate will evaluate insurance applications, assessing risks and determining appropriate coverage options. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of client submissions to determine coverage eligibility.
• Provide training and support to junior underwriting staff.
• Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting strategies as needed.
• Assist in developing underwriting guidelines and manuals.
• Prepare reports on underwriting activities for management review.
• Foster strong relationships with agents, clients, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Actuarial Science or similar field is preferred
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years in insurance underwriting is preferred
