Job Description

As a Hazardous Materials Removal Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe transport and handling of hazardous materials. Your responsibilities will include adhering to safety protocols, maintaining vehicle compliance, and providing excellent customer service during deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Transport hazardous materials while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Carefully load and unload hazardous materials.
  • Conduct vehicle maintenance checks and report issues as needed.
  • Document each trip accurately, including cargo manifests and delivery receipts.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and follow all traffic regulations.
  • Assist with training new drivers on safety and handling procedures.
  • Perform regular inspections of hazardous materials and ensure proper handling.
  • Foster a culture of safety and professionalism within the team.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
  • At least 5 years in logistics and hazardous materials transportation
Technical Skills
  • Hazmat transportation experience
  • Navigation and GPS skills
Soft Skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork
Certifications
  • Emergency response training
Languages
  • English: Fluent
  • Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages: Fluency in Afrikaans and English is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role: Experience directing other transportation staff or managing logistics.
