Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to assess and evaluate insurance applications for our Pietermaritzburg branch. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of risk assessment and underwriting principles, and be able to make informed decisions regarding insurance coverage. You will play a crucial role in our organization by ensuring that applications are processed efficiently while maintaining the company's risk management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk analyses of insurance applications to make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Determine appropriate premiums and coverage terms based on risk evaluations.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with underwriting techniques and market trends.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure a seamless application process.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements in underwriting processes.
  • Utilize underwriting software and tools effectively for process efficiency.
  • Address any discrepancies in applications and work to resolve them promptly.
  • Assist in the mentorship of new team members to foster a collaborative environment.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Insurance-related fields
  • Advanced underwriting qualifications preferred
Experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in underwriting or risk management
