Actuarial Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Actuarial Analyst to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will leverage their statistical analysis skills to assess risk and provide data-driven insights. You will work closely with various stakeholders to develop pricing strategies, evaluate claims, and contribute to the overall success of our insurance products.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and improve existing actuarial models for accuracy and effectiveness.
• Work with data scientists to enhance data collection and analysis techniques.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts within the department.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards in actuarial practices.
• Collaborate on cross-departmental projects to integrate actuarial insights into wider business strategies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• Master's degree is an advantage

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in a similar actuarial role

Technical Skills

• Data Modeling
• Statistical Software (SAS, SPSS)

• Presentation Skills

Certifications

• Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA)
• Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with actuarial software tools: Experience using actuarial software such as Prophet or MoSes.
• Experience with SQL databases: Proficient in SQL for data querying and management.
